Sunset and the night sky

Yesterday night was uber fun.

We went to watch the sunset! It was beautiful. I caught it twice before and each time i thought it was good. until yesterday. the sunset was really really pretty! see the streaks of red?? Too bad i couldnt get a nice photograph of it cos the rocks kept appearing black :(
The sunset is the best time to take photos of the canyon. The sky is so pretty!!

This is an American friend i made here. She's called Courtney and she loves to read!! She reminds me of Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. Serious! Like when we go "shopping" in the gift shop, she heads straight to the books section! haha!! and she finished reading 3 books since she got here at north rim. (Thats like barely 3 or 4 weeks) the onli kind of books that i like to read are chick lit. :D

I finally managed to conquer my fear of heights to climb to the boulders in order to take this picture. I think its worth it, cos the scenery is so pretty! That was one big accomplishment last evening.

After watching the sunset, we headed back to the lodge and there were park rangers showing us the stars and planets on the telescope. The night sky here is wonderful. The stars are numerous!! I have never seen so many stars in my entire life. Thru the telescope, the ranger showed us the moon- i could see the craters on it!!!, saturn- i could see the ring around it!!, jupiter- i spotted at least 3 moons encircling it!!!, mars- a bit small. The ranger oso taught us how to spot the big dipper with our naked eye, the north star, scorpio, and hercules something.It was a big of information overloaded but still cool nevertheless. My frens and i stayed from 8 till around 11 to look at the night sky! i will go back again to see it when i am free... haha! Oh but my neck hurts from the strain of looking at the stars though... :P

ok a few things to clarify... the snow picture?? That WAS gigi trying to make a snow ball to hit others. (caught her in action). And it wasnt cold cos it was left over snow. It wasnt snowing when we got there. just that the snow didnt melt at some parts cos the sunlight couldnt reach it. The chipmunks are NOT cute. (at least to me..) One tried to sneak into my room during housekeeping and another CHEWED on my new roll of toilet paper!! i had to throw that toilet paper away. And the firefighters are gone... :( and not coming back....
