Can't help but to blog about this:
Chew Sin Huey (石欣卉) from Project Superstar 2005 (a singing competition in Singapore), has decided to call herself "Sing".
Yeah, so now she shall therefore be known as : Sing Chew Sin Huey
(first name: Sing, last name: Chew)
Whats wrong with good old fashioned Christian names or just sticking with your Chinese name(like me)? Seems that everyone is trying to outdo each other by coming out with the weirdest name they can think of. Shall list all the weird celebrities names that i can think of now..
1. Gwyneth Paltrow's baby: Apple
(well, this name is actually quite common in HongKong even before Gwyneth Paltrow chose this name. Hong Kong-ers like names like: Apple, Pink, etc etc)
2. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's baby: Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt
3. Madonna and Guy Ritchie's baby: Rocco
4. Claudia Schiffer's baby: Caspar (maybe she likes watching Casper the Friendly Ghost)
5. Show Luo.
Who?? Well, that's 罗志祥's name. (a relatively famous Taiwanese Singer) I guess he likes to errr.."put up a good show"?? is "showy"??? and likes to "show off"??
I remember a teacher that i had back in Secondary School. She insisted that the name of her son has to start with "Aa" so her son can be the first in the register list. Err.. look at the extent that people go to while naming their children.
Some practical considerations while giving a name:
1. Do not give names that are too long. Do you remember all the examination papers that we had during school days that required us to shade our names alphabet by alphabet? Imagine the torture if you have to spend so much time and effort shading your names that by the name u finish shading, you do not have much time left for completing the paper itself.
2. Do some research on the names. Make sure that the names are not easily mocked at. A name like "Brayston"?? (Zoe Tay's kid) I foresee that when the child steps into primary school, he will be easily mocked at. "Brayyyyy- ston"
